The National Hotel Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
Great find. Excellent menu, friendly & helpful staff, generous portions, great food. What more can you want. Worth the trip!
Went for dinner last night with friends. Everybody loved their meals. The building is very cool. Old and has a bar downstairs with a couple of adjoining rooms if you had a group to just hang out play foosball, have drinks. Very nice staff !!great service!!
Came for brunch and was not disappointed. There was a $15 special that came with a breakfast cocktail and an entree. I had a "breakfast burger" which had a fried egg and hollandaise sauce, with a side salad. It was excellent, if a little messy. Our table split slices of limoncello and cheesecake for desert, both of which I thought were outstanding. The food was fantastic, the prices were great, and the staff was friendly as well. It's a haul for us to come here, but we'll definitely be back!
I have eaten here 6 different times and every time the food was fantastic. The service is also good but waitress staff is what it is sometimes great and sometimes it just is what it is. Not a bad thing but just can't go to 5 stars.
Let's start at the door. No one enters without a warm reception and recognition from the owner. No tourist merits less than a regulars's reception. Next: the atmosphere. The bar and restaurant are done as a romantic grotto. This is the place for lovers and those seeking intimacy of mind with private conversation. The bar and sushi bar offer an intimate private refuge for friendly banter or fun conversation with familiar locals. Tonight, for example, my medication alarm went off and two people both reminded assisted me to turn it off. I feel at home here. The menu: recently expanded to offer more apps, an on premises sushi chef and one or two more satisfying entrees which were previously missing. What separates The National from every other place is the premium provisions, the service, and the 1st class everything including French Baccarat crystal no one dare serve. I'm here on a Friday night. Music is supplied by a 4-piece jazz combo playing jazz and music from my college years. Unlike other venues, sounds are muffled. People converse. Lovers converse. You get your money's worth here. I paid $8 for a salmon hand roll providing almost enough salmon for an entire meal. Nothing is cheap but guests get good value for what we spend. Tonight, I ordered ahead for hamachi kama. My request was the Inn's challenge. Desserts could be better and I hope the Inn goes in that direction. I could live here. I'm proud to take anyone here and confident I'm not going out on a limb sending you here. The National may teach you where your dollars are valued.
They have amazing cocktails. They have a great selection and give you the whole shaker if you order a type of martini. Food was excellent as well. Service was excellent. Staff is very personable.
The menu is eclectic with great quality food. Never had a bad anything here. Creative drinks, great tap selection. Has an Asian flair to the food but also steady American choices (hamburger, steak, etc), so there's a nice spectrum of flavors. Vegetarian options are stellar.
